This is a one day, hands-on cadaveric course that covers the basic principles of shoulder arthroscopy and the range of common operative procedures performed in shoulder arthroscopy practice.

The course is aimed at ST2—ST7 Orthopaedic trainees and SAS grades who would like to gain experience in shoulder arthroscopy.

The course is designed to teach tips and tricks in:

1. Arthroscopy stack set-up and choosing the right instruments
2. Patient positioning, portals and diagnostic arthroscopy
3. Understanding the Indications and to perform common arthroscopic procedures (SAD, Capsular release, ACJ excision, Biceps tenotomy, rotator cuff repair and stabilisation)
4. Suture management & knot tying

Lectures will be kept to a minimum and most of the day will be spent in the lab.

Numbers are limited to 16 delegates with 2/3 delegates for every station. This is a UK/Ireland course and delegates are encouraged to register early. The course fee does not include travel and accommodation.

9:05 - Indications and technique for Arthroscopic subacromial decompression (SAD) and Acromioclavicular joint excision (ACJE)

9:15 - Indications and technique for Capsular release and Biceps tenotomy

9:25 - Tips and tricks for shoulder arthroscopy

9:35 - Coffee break

09:45 - Cadaveric lab – portal placement, stack set up, diagnostic arthroscopy, SAD, ACJE, capsular release and Biceps tenotomy

12:00 - Lunch

12:45 - Indications and technique for rotator cuff repair

12:55 - Indications and technique for Shoulder stabilisation

13:05 - Knot tying and suture management station

13:15 - Cadaveric lab - Rotator cuff repair, stabilization

16:00 - Q&A session, feedback/evaluation forms

17:00 – Close
